This agreement was established to recycle fallen leaves into eco-friendly Bio-SRF (Solid Refuse Fuel), improve the resource circulation system, and reduce costs associated with incineration and landfill.

Until now, Namyangju City collected fallen leaves using designated waste bags and processed them for a fee, but with this measure, it will be able to achieve both environmental protection and resource utilization.

The intensive collection period is from November to December, during which approximately 600 tons of fallen leaves will be processed free of charge.

However, fallen leaves generated from multi-family housing or private properties are not included in the collection targets.

The city has established a smooth fallen leaf collection system in cooperation with related departments and each eup, myeon, and dong (township and neighborhood), and the collected leaves will be transported to recycling specialists through household waste collection and transportation companies to be processed into Bio-SRF.

A Namyangju City official stated, “With this free fallen leaf disposal agreement, fallen leaves collected throughout the year in all areas are expected to be efficiently recycled,” adding, “We anticipate not only the establishment of an eco-friendly resource circulation system but also budget savings. We plan to continue seeking efficient waste disposal methods.”
