Xi Jinping Inspects Airborne Troops on Eve of US Election: "Combat Readiness Must Be Substantial"

Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the airborne troops a day before the U.S. presidential election, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency on the 5th.

On the previous day, President Xi visited the Chinese People's Liberation Army airborne troops and stated, "The airborne troops play a particularly important role in our military capability system and operational system," adding, "We must implement the requirements for the transformation and construction of the Air Force, comprehensively strengthen training and combat readiness, and fully enhance airborne operational capabilities."

President Xi said, "We must keep in mind our responsibilities and missions, raise combat readiness and awareness, and solidly prepare for military struggles," and "We need to understand the characteristics and rules of airborne capability operations in modern warfare, innovate operational patterns and troop deployment methods, and fully leverage the strengths of the airborne troops."

Xinhua News Agency reported that President Xi was pleased to hear about the positive achievements in the construction of the airborne troops' weapons and equipment systems in recent years. It also stated that President Xi emphasized the need to establish new airborne equipment systems that meet operational demands.
