Chuncheon City Promotes Core Policies and Vision in 5 Key Areas at the Venue

The '2024 Korea Local Era Expo,' the largest regional expo in Korea, held in Chuncheon City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Yuk Dong-han), will finally open on the 6th. The 2024 Korea Local Era Expo will take place from the 6th to the 8th at Chuncheon Songam Sports Town. Accordingly, Chuncheon City announced on the 5th that all preparations for the successful hosting of the Korea Local Era Expo have been completed.

The Presidential Commission on the Local Era (Chairman Woo Dong-gi), together with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, National Education Commission, Public Procurement Service, Statistics Korea, Korea Forest Service, 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and their education offices, and the National Council of Superintendents of Education, co-host this event under the theme "Opening the Local Era Together, Smiling Korea."

The Local Era Expo is a platform for communication and participation to promote local autonomy and balanced development policies and share achievements. The opening ceremony of this year's Local Era Expo, held in Chuncheon, will be held at 11 a.m. on the 6th at the auxiliary tennis court of Chuncheon Songam Sports Town.

The ceremony will be attended by Woo Dong-gi, Chairman of the Local Era Commission; ministers and vice ministers from related ministries (Ministry of Education, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, National Education Commission, Office for Government Policy Coordination); governors of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and other metropolitan cities and provinces; superintendents of education; and Yuk Dong-han, Mayor of Chuncheon.

The ceremony will proceed in the order of pre-ceremony performances by the Chuncheon City Choir, opening declaration, welcome speech, theme video, awards for meritorious persons, commemorative events, and commemorative address.

Also, from 5:40 p.m., an opening commemorative Music Festa will be held on the special stage at Chuncheon Songam Sports Town.

A total of about 360 booths will be set up in the exhibition hall, allowing visitors to get an overview of the present and future of the Local Era. In particular, Chuncheon City will promote five core policy areas (Dynamic Advanced Industrial City, Top Educational City, High-Quality Cultural Tourism City, International Sports City, Healthy Healing City) and its vision nationwide at the host pavilion (Gangwon State Pavilion). Through this, it plans to enhance the value of the Chuncheon brand and boost citizens' pride.

In addition, visitors can enjoy regional development and core local autonomy policies by city and province along with regional cultural and artistic contents.

Also, at the newly established Metropolitan and Provincial Office of Education Pavilion this year, differentiated educational reform policies by region can be observed.

At the central government pavilion, major local era policies of each government ministry can also be explored.

Especially in the Resident Participation Pavilion, there is a promotional booth for "Cultural City Chuncheon," showcasing the achievements of Chuncheon's cultural and artistic projects, and a local branding exhibition space called "made by Yaksacheon."

The Korea Local Era Expo viewing hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, on the 6th, when the opening ceremony is held, viewing is available from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

During the Local Era Expo period, seminars on regional industry promotion policies, the 2nd Regional Innovation Fair, and the "Innovation City Investment Attraction Briefing" conference will be held at the indoor tennis court of Songam Sports Town, KT&G Sangsang Madang Chuncheon, and Chuncheon Bears Hotel.

Chuncheon City operates shuttle buses for the convenience of Chuncheon citizens and tourists visiting the Korea Local Era Expo. The shuttle buses running between the temporary parking lots prepared for the event?Waterfront Park and Jungdo Parking Lot, Cable Car temporary parking lot?and the event venue operate at 20-minute intervals.

The shuttle bus from Namchuncheon Station departs every hour from Namchuncheon Station, stops by Chuncheon Intercity Bus Terminal, and then proceeds to the event venue.
