Goyang City Hosts the 7th Nationwide Youth Hope Stepping Stone Scholarship Award Ceremony

7 Years of Support for Goyang City Youth

Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 5th that the 7th Scholarship Award Ceremony of the National Youth Hope Stepping Stone was held on the 2nd at the Kawaji Auditorium of Ilsanseo-gu Office.

The ceremony was attended by scholarship recipients and their families, as well as guests including Jeong Yeon-sook, representative of the Parangsae Citizens' Coalition, Kim Eung-hwa, chairman of the Goyang City Social Welfare Council, and Seo Byeong-ha, mayor of Ilsanseo-gu, who congratulated the awarded youths and encouraged the organization’s continuous support activities.


In his greeting, Seo Byeong-ha, mayor of Ilsanseo-gu, said, “A small gathering that started with the voluntary contributions of sponsors in Jeongbalsan-dong has grown together with local youths by awarding scholarships to over 70 students so far,” expressing gratitude for the efforts of the National Youth Hope Stepping Stone, which strives to nurture young talents in the community to become assets of the nation.


Meanwhile, the National Youth Hope Stepping Stone (representative Lee Eun-taek), which has been providing scholarships for Goyang City youths for seven years, held a North-South Youth Unification Festival event in June together with Goyang City and the Lotte Foundation. Representative Lee Eun-taek was recognized for such social contribution efforts and was awarded the first honorary citizenship certificate of Goyang Special City by Mayor Lee Dong-hwan last year.


In particular, this ceremony gained more significance as the scholarship activities over the past seven years bore their first fruit. Park Sang-ho, who was an early scholarship recipient and passed the bar exam this year, attended the ceremony and expressed deep gratitude to the National Youth Hope Stepping Stone for their support, while also offering wholehearted encouragement and support to the students and families present. Since July 1st, he has started working as the lead attorney at a law firm.


A student who attended the ceremony expressed gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the scholarship, I was given the opportunity to focus more on my studies.”


A representative of the National Youth Hope Stepping Stone stated, “We will continue to provide practical support to local youths and strive to establish ourselves as a reliable stepping stone for the bright future of the community’s youth.”
