This festival opened with an academic seminar. Various programs such as a writing contest, family creative children's poetry recitation contest, children's poetry experience booths, and a children's poetry market were operated. Over 30 children's poets, including Ahn Do-hyun and Song Chan-ho, participated, filling the Cheongguwon area. The festival was hosted by Buan County and the Korea Children's Poetry Festival Committee and organized by the Buan County Cultural Foundation. It was sponsored by the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education, Munhakdongne, Changbi, Sagyejul, Dongsimajung, and SangSang Publishing.
In the festival's children's poetry writing contest, 308 entries were submitted under the themes 'If I Were a Wizard,' 'Wave,' and 'Hat.' The grand prize winners were Park Je-young (Elementary Division, 6th grade, Haseo Elementary), Jo Yoon-seo (Youth Division, 2nd grade, Gochang Middle School), and Lee Ha-na (Adult Division, female, Iksan) in their respective categories.
Heo Jeong-jin, who won this year's newly established 'New Children's Poetry Literary Award,' said, "I will work hard on creative activities based on a pure heart like children and a sincere attitude," adding, "I am especially grateful and honored because it is a prestigious award given in Buan, a land of history and culture."
In its second year, this year's festival improved food and rest facilities, which were pointed out as issues last year, by installing food trucks and outdoor tents. Special attention was paid to the safety of children visiting the festival by controlling vehicle access inside the festival grounds.
A representative of the Buan County Cultural Foundation expressed gratitude to the residents of Seon-eun Village for cooperating with vehicle control for children's safety, saying, "We are pleased to have successfully held the festival this year without any accidents."
Bae Gwi-seon and Yoo Kang-hee, co-chairpersons of the Korea Children's Poetry Festival Joint Promotion Committee, said, "The Korea Children's Poetry Festival has established itself as a humanities festival for children's poetry, innocence, and children, expanding beyond the region to the whole country," adding, "We will strengthen promotion to make it a nationwide festival so that children from all over the country can come together in innocence at Buan."
