The Korean Senior Citizens Association Yangsan Branch Holds the 28th Senior Citizens Day Ceremony

Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced that the Yangsan Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association held the ‘28th Senior Citizens Day Ceremony and Senior Sports Competition’ on the 5th at the Yangsan Sports Complex Gymnasium.

The event was attended by Vice Mayor Jo Hyun-ok, provincial council members, city council members, and other guests, along with about 1,000 participants including senior association executives, elderly citizens, and award recipients. The ceremony proceeded in the order of pre-ceremony performances, national anthem, reading of the senior citizens’ pledge, commendations for meritorious service, presentation of plaques to outstanding senior centers, commemorative speeches, and congratulatory addresses.


For contributions to the promotion of senior welfare and filial piety, commendations were awarded to 15 individuals including six recipients of the Mayor’s Award, as well as awards from the City Council Chairman and the President of the Korean Senior Citizens Association. Plaques were also presented to eight senior centers, including the Yangsan Brownstone Senior Center, which was selected in the 2024 2nd Outstanding Senior Center review.


After the ceremony, a senior singing contest was held, followed by a senior sports competition featuring three events?Hangung, Tuho, and ground golf?at the indoor gymnasium and auxiliary stadium.


Seo Chun-gye, President of the Korean Senior Citizens Association Yangsan Branch, said, “I ask that you continue to fulfill the essential role of elders for your families and communities, and I wish you always good health and happiness.”


Vice Mayor Jo Hyun-ok stated, “We will continue to make steady efforts to develop senior welfare in Yangsan City so that the elderly can enjoy a comfortable and stable life in their later years.”
