The PGA Tour announced on the 7th (local time) that the Worldwide Technology Championship (total prize money $7.2 million) will be held at El Cardonal (par 72, 7,452 yards) in Los Cabos, Mexico. The battleground is famous for being a course designed by Woods. This golf course opened in 2014. It is the first golf course created by Woods' course design company, TGR Design Team. Since last year, this tournament has been held at El Cardonal. It was recorded as the first PGA Tour event held on a course designed by Woods.

El Cardonal resembles the golf courses in Southern California where Woods played frequently as a child. It offers beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. The course was designed so that players can attempt various strategies on every hole. In last year's tournament, Adam Long (USA) did not miss a single fairway over four days, indicating that the fairways are wide and the greens are also large. Long was the first player since 1992 to keep all fairways throughout the tournament.

The course has a slope of 4%, with a 70-meter difference between the highest and lowest points. Variables such as short grass due to the desert terrain and winds adjacent to the sea are also factors. The pre-tournament rounds are broadcast through Golf Channel across the United States, Mexico, and all of South America.

Last year's tournament was won by Erik van Rooyen (South Africa). Currently ranked 67th in the FedEx Cup standings, van Rooyen will defend his title this year. Nico Echavarr?a (Colombia), who won the Zozo Championship held in Japan at the end of October, will challenge for back-to-back wins. Korean players Lee Kyoung-hoon, Kim Sung-hyun, and Noh Seung-yul will participate. Their current FedEx Cup rankings are Lee Kyoung-hoon 96th, Kim Sung-hyun 122nd, and Noh Seung-yul 181st.
