President Lee Haewoo's Visit to Thailand, Academic Exchange Agreement with Chiang Mai University
Discussion on Extending Existing Exchange MOUs with Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University
Dong-A University announced on the 5th that it is expanding exchanges with leading universities in Thailand.
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) recently signed an academic exchange agreement with Chiang Mai University and is expanding exchanges with Thai universities by discussing continuous cooperation with Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University.
President Lee Hae-woo, Director of External and International Affairs Park Hyun-tae, Director of Admissions Shin Sang-moon, and Professor of International Trade Studies Noh Young-jin recently visited Thailand, signed an agreement with Chiang Mai University, and discussed exchange plans.
Earlier in June, Chiang Mai University President Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, Dean of the Medical School Prof. Bannakij Lojanapiwat, and Associate Prof. Prapan Jutavijittum, head of the Korea-Thailand Infectious Disease Research Center, visited Dong-A University first.
Starting with this academic exchange agreement, Dong-A University and Chiang Mai University agreed to cooperate in fields such as the College of Engineering, hospitals, and startup support. Chiang Mai University is Thailand’s first regional university, a prestigious national university with 20 colleges including the Medical School, College of Engineering, and Business School, and approximately 38,000 enrolled students.
Dong-A University also discussed extending the MOU with the College of Engineering at Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University, with which it has had prior exchanges.
Kasetsart University is Thailand’s first comprehensive university and the third oldest university, renowned for its world-class research achievements especially in agriculture and environmental sciences.
The Dong-A University delegation, including President Lee Hae-woo, held in-depth discussions with Kasetsart University President Wachiralat and others to strengthen cooperation between the two universities. Active dialogues were held particularly on mutual development of global programs such as student education, research, faculty exchanges, and joint project promotion.
At Kasetsart University, Professor Choi Young-seok, a doctoral graduate of Dong-A University’s Taekwondo Department, is serving as the head coach of the Thai national Taekwondo team, which is regarded as a symbolic example of continuous exchange and cooperation between the two universities.
The cooperation discussions between the presidents of the two universities are expected to be an important opportunity for Dong-A University to further strengthen its global education network and enhance synergy in academic and research fields.
Chulalongkorn University, regarded as Thailand’s top university, was visited earlier this year by Dong-A University’s overseas volunteer group, deepening the friendship between the two universities, and during this visit, discussions on global research and development cooperation were also conducted.
President Lee Hae-woo said, “As of the 1st of last month, Dong-A University has surpassed 1,900 international students, and its Korean Language Institute ranks sixth nationwide in terms of enrollment. We will do our best to support international students by utilizing infrastructure such as the Global Talent Center, Dong-A Korean Language Institute, and Seokdang Global House.”
