37 Teams Nationwide Participate... LINC 3.0 Project Group's 'Smart Mobility Convergence Major' Achievements
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 5th that students from the Smart Mobility Convergence Major won first place in the ‘F1 Tenth Korea Championship’.
The ‘F1 Tenth Korea Championship’ was hosted by ICROS (Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems), Dong-A University, Gyeongsang National University, Kookmin University, UNIST, and other LINC 3.0 project groups. It was held for three days from the 29th of last month at Shinhwa World in Jeju Island.

This competition was organized to increase accessibility to autonomous driving software development, expand and activate the domestic autonomous driving technology base, build networks among domestic and international companies, universities, industries, and research institutes related to autonomous driving, and disseminate autonomous driving development know-how by inviting engineers from Google and the University of Pennsylvania, among others.
The competition featured 37 teams from 23 universities and institutions, including Dong-A University, KAIST, Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Pusan National University, Kyungpook National University, MIMOS Berhad (a Malaysian government applied research and development agency), and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in Thailand.
The first-place Dong-A University team (advised by Professor Kim Jong-wook of the Department of Electronic Engineering) was led by student Kim Seung-hwan (Department of Electronic Engineering) and consisted of students Lee Min-ho, Jeong Jae-young, Park Bo-jung from the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Moon Seo-young from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
All of them are students belonging to the ‘Smart Mobility Convergence Major’ operated by the Dong-A University LINC 3.0 Project Group (Director Choi Jeong-ho). Last year, the Dong-A University LINC 3.0 Project Group held a ‘Global F1 Tenth Sharing and Cooperation Agreement Ceremony’ with seven domestic universities and has been cooperating in nurturing autonomous driving talents.
Team leader Kim Seung-hwan said, “Thanks to the efforts and running together with the Smart Mobility Convergence Major students, professors, and the support of the LINC 3.0 Project Group, we were able to achieve such a great result. I am really grateful to our ‘Hwakbulsallapinda’ team members who have worked hard together since last year’s competition. We were able to accomplish this with our passion and effort.”
Professor Kim Jong-wook said, “The Smart Mobility Convergence Major involves the Departments of Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, AI, and Construction Systems Engineering jointly conducting practical education in AI and robotics. I believe this achievement is the result of the efforts of the students and participating professors, as well as the consistent and full support of the LINC 3.0 Project Group. I sincerely thank everyone.”
