‘Book Concert’ with Author Jo Jung-rae Also Held
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it held the ‘16th Anniversary Opening Ceremony of the Taebaek Sanmaek Literature Museum’ with novelist Jo Jung-rae, the author of the novel Taebaek Sanmaek, on the 2nd.
This event included the 16th anniversary ceremony of the Taebaek Sanmaek Literature Museum located in Beolgyo-eup, as well as a ‘book concert’ and a ‘fan signing event’ with author Jo Jung-rae.

The ceremony was attended by Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, author Jo Jung-rae, poet Kim Cho-hye, architect Kim Won, Song Young-seok, CEO of Haenaem Publishing, along with heads of organizations and about 100 visitors.
To commemorate the 16th anniversary, author Jo presented plaques of appreciation to seven readers who had transcribed the entire 10 volumes of the novel Taebaek Sanmaek by hand. Currently, the Taebaek Sanmaek Literature Museum exhibits a total of 68 donated manuscripts, including the seven donated this time. A transcriber from Gangwon-do said, “I transcribed the novel for 10 years since middle school,” and added, “It is an honor to meet the author through this transcription.”
A ‘book concert’ themed ‘Into Taebaek Sanmaek Set in Beolgyo’ was also held. The book concert was hosted and reviewed by Professor Lee Dong-soon of Chosun University, and the audience had time to freely share their thoughts on the theme.
Kim Cheol-woo, governor of Boseong-gun, said, “We will continue to support the Taebaek Sanmaek Literature Museum so that more people can visit as a focal point of the novel Taebaek Sanmaek and the history of Beolgyo.”
Meanwhile, the Taebaek Sanmaek Literature Museum, which opened in 2008 in Beolgyo-eup, Boseong-gun, the setting of the novel Taebaek Sanmaek, has welcomed over 800,000 visitors to date and has established itself as the top literary travel destination in Korea.
