Global collaboration tool Notion held its first press conference in Korea to introduce new features. Notion aims to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and strengthen capabilities by enabling writing, planning, and organization.
John Hurley, Head of Product Marketing at Notion, said at the press conference held on the 5th at The Plaza Hotel Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, "Our goal is to reduce the indiscriminate increase of software," adding, "With fewer tools, concentration improves and people can focus on important tasks."
At the conference, Hurley also introduced new features that provide a flexible work environment, including 'Notion Marketplace,' 'Notion Forms,' and 'Notion Mail.' Notion Marketplace is a space where experts, designers, and creators can share and utilize templates. It provides tools for creators to register and sell their templates, and includes features such as reviews, a secure payment system, template protection, and analytics.
Notion Forms is a document tool that can receive survey responses and supports various question types such as multiple choice, short answer, and checkboxes, allowing the creation of customized surveys. Notion Mail pursues a new form and can synchronize with Gmail. It is a customizable standalone app that can be tailored to the user's workflow. Using Notion AI, it also enables automatic replies and inbox organization.
Additionally, upgraded layouts among existing features were introduced. This feature supports users in creating customized layouts that fit their working style. Automation features were also updated. Users can check work changes via Gmail and support customized formula operations.
Hurley said, "This might be the largest new release in Notion's history," and added, "We also comply with security regulations and scalability required at the enterprise level."
He continued, "Notion's differentiator is its customization feature," saying, "When you ask individuals, students, or company employees why they use Notion, the common answer is that they can use it tailored to themselves."
The conference also included a presentation on Notion's achievements so far. Pooja Koslowshahi, Notion's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), said, "After reaching 1 million users in 2020, the number increased to 100 million earlier this year," adding, "Notion is not only for enterprises but is also used by startups, tech companies, and AI companies such as OpenAI."
Notion is also showing steady growth in Korea. The number of domestic users is understood to have grown by double digits compared to the previous year. Notion is paying attention to the Korean market, adopting Korean as its first foreign language version. Companies in various industries such as GS Construction, Socar, and Today’s House have adopted Notion's tools.
Daesung Park, Head of Notion Korea, said, "We will strive to establish ourselves as a more valuable platform for Korean users through diverse collaborations and innovative features."
