November Regular Assembly Held
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 5th that it held the November 2024 regular assembly attended by about 250 people, including public officials and residents.
Before the regular assembly, attendees watched a vivid video capturing the scenes of the ‘Geochang Hanmadang Grand Festival,’ which filled autumn with the energy of celebration, and the ‘Gamaksan Flower & Star Travel Event,’ which attracted record-breaking visitors for a month starting from September 13.
Following this, a ‘5-Minute Empathy Speech’ session was held where employees communicated freely on topics ranging from policy proposals for county development to personal life philosophies. Commendation certificates were awarded to a total of 12 residents and public officials who contributed to county development, including residents recognized for their efforts in the campaign to create green villages free of forest fires, expressing gratitude for their hard work.
Additionally, 46 newly appointed trainees, who were assigned as of October 21, attended this regular assembly and had a valuable opportunity to introduce themselves to senior public officials and resident attendees.
County Governor Gu In-mo stated, “The ‘Geochang Hanmadang Grand Festival’ and the ‘Gamaksan Flower & Star Travel Event,’ which are representative festivals of Geochang-gun, were successfully held without any safety accidents, fully showcasing the beauty of Geochang.” He added, “Especially, the ‘Gamaksan Flower & Star Travel Event’ attracted more than 380,000 visitors, establishing itself as a leading autumn event in South Korea.”
He continued, “Geochang-gun will rapidly change not only in the cultural tourism sector but also in urban environment and health welfare sectors. Recently, it has been consecutively selected for national and Gyeongsangnam-do projects such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s urban regeneration project, the Gimcheon district natural disaster risk area improvement project, and the regional public postpartum care center in Gyeongnam. With the opening of a dementia-specialized elderly nursing facility in Sinwon-myeon, the residential environment for residents is expected to improve significantly.”
Meanwhile, Geochang-gun is making every effort to respond to population decline and increase the living population by completing the east-west-north-south tourism belt including Gajohang Aging Healing Land, Suseungdae, Geochang Changpowon, Gamaksan Star Wind Hill, and Geochang Forest Leisure Sports Park; constructing medical infrastructure such as the Geochang-type Medical Welfare Town; and expanding living sports infrastructure including the direct management of the Geochang Eco-friendly Public Golf Course and the second Changpowon sports facilities.
