Kia unveiled the new model of the compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) Sportage on the 5th. This is a facelift model released about three years after the launch in July 2021.
The exterior and interior designs have been changed to a nearly complete overhaul. The front daytime running lights are vertically shaped, and the grille features a black horizontal pattern, giving a clean impression. The wheel design, rear lamps, and bumper design have also been updated. The air vents are designed horizontally to make the interior appear more spacious, and a D-cut steering wheel has been applied.
The 1.6 gasoline turbo model is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the 1.6 turbo hybrid model has improved motor output. A smart regenerative braking system that automatically controls the regenerative braking stages according to road conditions has been applied. Dampers and sound-absorbing materials have been reinforced to make it quieter.
New features include a driver forward attention warning camera and a head-up display. Advanced driving assistance features such as highway driving assist with lane change assist and navigation-based smart cruise control have also been newly added. An X-Line trim with exclusive designs for the bumper, grille, wheels, and more has been introduced.
The 1.6 gasoline turbo model is priced between 28.36 million and 35.25 million KRW, and the 2.0 LPi model ranges from 29.01 million to 35.90 million KRW. The 1.6 gasoline turbo hybrid is expected to be priced between 33.15 million and 39.64 million KRW after tax benefits. Kia plans to showcase collaborative content with the Netflix series ‘Ojingeo Geim Season 2’ starting from the 7th.
