Won Universe announced on the 5th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Virtual Human Industry Association (KOVHIA) to promote virtual humans and VTubers (virtual YouTubers).
Both organizations agreed to mutually cooperate regarding their technologies and personnel to revitalize the virtual industry. Won Universe will be responsible for developing virtual human and VTuber platforms, while KOVHIA will support platform development and operation.
Through this agreement, Won Universe plans to strengthen the global competitiveness of its VTuber creation tool, Meta Soulmate (MSM), which was released last month via Steam Early Access, and will actively promote it in various ways based on the association’s support.
MSM is a creative tool that helps users easily create various VTuber characters. Users can create characters with subculture illustration-style shaders applied using the latest technology based on Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). It was showcased at the Steam Next Fest in February this year and received favorable reviews for its customization features for diverse characters and excellent graphic quality.
Yang Bo-geun, Director of Won Universe, stated, “Meta Soulmate, recently released, has largely met the expectations of users creating virtual characters with its latest technology and diverse customization options. Through cooperation with KOVHIA, we will build networks and exchanges with virtual human and VTuber industry organizations and companies, contributing to the expansion of the virtual market.”
Meanwhile, KOVHIA is a corporation established last year under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote the virtual human industry. It was founded to serve as a bridge connecting active activities among member companies and government policy support in preparation for the rapidly growing VTuber market expected in the future.
