Scheduled to be held at Suwon Messe from the 6th to 8th
Over 18,000 youth from 82 schools participating
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 5th that it will hold the ‘2024 Youth Bizcool Festival’ from June 6 to 8 at Suwon Messe in Gyeonggi Province.
Bizcool is a compound word of ‘Business’ and ‘School,’ meaning ‘learning management at school.’ It is a project that supports entrepreneurship education and simulated startup experience education for youth, nurturing them into creative and challenge-driven convergent talents.
The Youth Bizcool Festival is the largest youth entrepreneurship festival in Korea, held annually since 2007 to share the achievements of the Bizcool project with schools, parents, and the general public, and to spread an entrepreneurship-friendly culture in society.
This year’s event was created entirely through the participation and cooperation of youth. Respecting the voices and ideas of young people and embracing the warm meaning of growing together, the theme was selected as ‘Bizcool with you!’ Approximately 18,000 youths from 82 schools will participate in this event.
The first day will begin with a performance by the cheerleading squad ‘Rush’ from Suwon Samil Technical High School, followed by the opening ceremony, awards for meritorious service, keynote lectures, keyword speeches, and congratulatory performances. Park Chan-hoo, CEO of Geekble and a YouTuber with 1.19 million subscribers, will deliver an ‘experiential speech’ sharing the process of becoming a startup CEO through ‘experiments.’ Alongside this, keyword speeches by Bizcool graduate entrepreneurs and congratulatory performances by popular youth rapper ‘Raewon’ and dance team ‘One Stein’ will be held.
On the second day, events such as the ‘Bizcool Camp Final Evaluation,’ where teams participating in the Bizcool camp compete in rankings through simulated crowdfunding and investor relations (IR) presentations using prototypes they created, ‘Bizcool Ttoganjip,’ which selects impressive booths, and ‘Bizcool Final Debate,’ where youths discuss major interests such as startups and academics, will take place.
On the last day, the ‘Bizcool Showcase,’ where Bizcool students express their talents and skills, will be held, along with awards for the ‘Thumbs Up! Booths’ selected in various categories such as the booth with the most visitors during the event and the booth operated by the largest number of youths.
The exhibition hall will feature the ‘School Hall,’ showcasing Bizcool achievements over the past year; the ‘Large Corporation Hall,’ for public-private collaborative programs; the ‘Bizmaker Hall,’ where visitors can experience maker space equipment; the ‘New Technology Experience Hall,’ where visitors can try 4th industrial revolution-based technologies and products such as artificial intelligence (AI) and immersive media; and the ‘Bizcool History Zone,’ displaying Bizcool project achievements. Additionally, there will be an entrepreneurship tendency test hall and ‘Meet up Bizcool,’ providing mentoring between startup clubs from prestigious universities and Bizcool youth clubs.
Jo Kyung-won, Director of Startup Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “We will provide wholehearted support so that the youths attending this festival can reflect on their dreams and spirit of challenge through various Bizcool programs and grow into future entrepreneurs.”
