This meeting was organized to share the environmental and ecological education programs and sustainable development activities promoted by the National Institute of Ecology, and to establish a foundation for linking these with various environmental and ecological education initiatives being implemented in Gwangjin District.

The ‘Research Association for Environment and Sustainable Development’ was formed to develop a Gwangjin-type sustainable development model by researching educational programs for environmental protection and sustainable development, led by representative member Go Sang-soon along with members Kim Sang-hee (secretary), Go Yang-seok, Chu Yoon-gu, Kim Sang-bae, Shin Jin-ho, and Choi Il-hwan.

An official from the National Institute of Ecology stated, “Educational programs and on-site experiences conducted by the National Institute of Ecology can be sufficiently linked with local governments, and if opportunities are created to train instructors or guides for Gwangjin residents, it could also help create jobs.”

Representative member Go Sang-soon emphasized, “Today’s meeting with the National Institute of Ecology was a very important time for the sustainable development of Gwangjin’s ecology and environment,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to develop ecological and environmental education programs that Gwangjin residents can experience firsthand and to establish concrete measures to protect the local ecosystem.”
