Yulhee Files Mediation Request at Seoul Family Court
Custody Change and Claims for Alimony and Property Division
Yulhee (26), a former member of the group Laboum, has filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband Choi Minhwan (31) of FT Island for custody, alimony, and property division. According to an Edaily report on the 4th, Yulhee submitted a mediation request to the Seoul Family Court for a change of custody and claims for alimony and property division. Since the two did not have any specific discussions regarding custody or alimony at the time of their divorce last year, it is interpreted that they are now proceeding with legal procedures belatedly.
Earlier, YouTuber and former entertainment reporter Lee Jinho claimed on the 23rd of last month that "the biggest reason for their divorce was the situation during COVID-19," explaining, "FT Island's concert activities stopped, and Yulhee became more active externally as an influencer. This led to conflicts between Yulhee and Choi Minhwan, who prioritized family." He also stated, "There was an incident where Yulhee ran away from home for 4 to 5 days just before an FT Island concert, which caused Minhwan great distress," adding, "After Yulhee returned home, they announced their divorce shortly thereafter."
The next day, Yulhee posted an untitled video on her YouTube channel 'Yulhee's House.' In the video, she hesitated, saying, "I am still unsure if it is right to bring up responsibility or fault regarding the divorce," and then revealed, "About a year before the divorce, a major incident occurred, which completely changed our married life." She disclosed that Choi Minhwan frequented entertainment establishments. She continued, "(Minhwan) touched my body in front of family members and even put money on my chest," explaining, "How would someone that age know about such places? Later, I realized that such drunken behavior was a habit." Regarding their appearance together on Channel A's 'Oh Eun-young's Golden Counseling Center' in December 2022, she said, "It was about a month or two after that incident, and I was not in a sound state of mind," adding, "I thought, 'Why should I forgive a cheating husband?' but I did not want to break up the family, so I appeared on the show to try to forget that incident."
At the end of the video, a recorded phone conversation between Choi Minhwan and a man identified as A from July to August 2022 was also revealed. In the recording, Minhwan contacts A saying, "They say there is no girl here today," "I need to pay 2.3 million won from last time, so please send me the account number," "Can you book a hotel I can go to now? A motel is fine too," and "I snuck out secretly, so please make a reservation." Meanwhile, Yulhee and Choi Minhwan married in 2018 and separated last December after about five years. They have one son and twin daughters together.
