In this contest, native-speaking judges evaluated employees' conversational proficiency in four languages: English, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish, with a total of 33 employees participating. Notably, the English section was fully booked within two days of registration, reflecting the employees' enthusiasm for foreign languages.

The evaluation consisted of a 5-minute orientation and a 30-minute main test. During the 5-minute orientation, questions about leisure activities and vacation experiences were asked and answered, and based on these, a personalized evaluation was conducted in the main test.

The contest was judged by a total of 11 native-speaking evaluators in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish. Four winners will receive the grand prize, eight will receive excellence awards, making a total of 12 awardees. Awardees will have the opportunity to participate in international exchanges with European partner cities to explore mutual development plans and excellent policies for both cities.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang said, “I am proud that many of Goyang’s employees are global talents. To advance Goyang as a world-class city, competitive employees with foreign language communication skills are essential. I support all participants in achieving good results in today’s contest.”
