A woman in her 20s from the UK confessed that she found blood coming from her left breast while showering, went to the hospital, was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, and had her left breast removed.

According to the British media outlet 'Daily Mail' on the 30th of last month, Courtney Bailey (26), who lives in Newcastle, discovered blood flowing from her left nipple after showering in June. Alarmed, Bailey visited a local clinic the next day, where the doctor told her, "This can occur due to hormonal imbalance. If you eat well and get plenty of rest, it will get better."

However, a few days later, Bailey noticed a small, hard lump under her breast. Finding it difficult to attribute this to a simple hormonal imbalance, she went to a breast specialist hospital for a biopsy. After the examination, the medical staff diagnosed her with early-stage breast cancer, stating, "Metastatic cancer cells were found in her left breast." They further explained to Bailey, "Early symptoms of breast cancer can include bloody discharge from the nipple or red rashes around the breast."

Ultimately, Bailey underwent a left mastectomy to prevent the cancer cells from progressing. She said, "I never expected to have only one breast at 26," adding, "This can happen to anyone." She also shared, "My perspective on life changed after the diagnosis," and "I came to see the body's appearance as a minor issue. I decided to have the mastectomy to ensure the cancer was completely removed." Currently, Bailey is awaiting the final test results to confirm whether any cancer remains in the tissue.

Meanwhile, the causes of breast cancer include various factors such as genetics, hormones, diet, obesity, and environmental factors. Hormones are known to have a significant impact. In postmenopausal women, although the ovaries no longer produce female hormones, a substance called androstenedione in abdominal fat is converted into female hormones, which becomes a risk factor. Genetic factors are also important. If there is a breast cancer patient among direct family members, the risk of breast cancer increases further.
