The E&M Heads to the US for Benchmarking Hollywood Studio Systems in LA and Collaboration Talks

THE E&M announced on the 4th that following the successful conclusion of the 29th Busan International Film Festival Special Forum last month, it visited Los Angeles, USA, at the invitation of Amazon MGM Studios.

During this ten-day schedule, which continues until the 8th, THE E&M will tour major Hollywood studios, production companies, and equipment firms to discuss various cooperation opportunities that can be benchmarked for the future Cheongna Film and Culture Complex.

The main itinerary includes visits to representative Hollywood studios such as △Amazon MGM Studios △Radford Studio Center △Raleigh Studios △Jim Henson Studio. They plan to explore ways to apply Hollywood’s production processes and studio management methods to domestic production sites.

The primary goal is to benchmark the “Hollywood studio system.” Currently, THE E&M is undertaking a studio development project aiming to become the “Hollywood of Asia.” Through this opportunity, they intend to learn efficient resource management and advanced studio operation methods in the film production environment. Additionally, they will visit major Hollywood filming equipment companies such as △ARRI △Keslow to gain insights into the latest local equipment and technology trends. Through this, THE E&M plans to secure high-quality equipment and facilities in the Cheongna Film and Culture Complex studios to enhance competitiveness.

Through this, THE E&M aims to establish an all-in-one ecosystem for the film industry?including equipment, editing, marketing, distribution, and production?to attract global production companies to the Cheongna Film and Culture Complex.

THE E&M is currently exploring cooperation possibilities through meetings with Amazon MGM Studios, which has recently gained attention for its original content production. They also plan to adapt the systematic operation and management system of the large Amazon studio to the Korean market and seek various information and advice necessary to strengthen capabilities in studio complex development.

Furthermore, they will discuss cooperation through meetings with Jim Henson Studio, a leading Hollywood special effects and animation studio. Jim Henson Studio is renowned for its unique character and visual effects production capabilities. THE E&M expects to benchmark this to add differentiated technology and distinctive colors to the domestic production environment.

THE E&M has confirmed cooperation possibilities with numerous global studios and equipment companies. They are currently advancing practical cooperative relationships such as LOIs (Letters of Intent) and MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) regarding the use of studios in the Cheongna Film and Culture Complex through further discussions.

A company representative stated, “We aim to strengthen competitiveness by introducing global standards to the domestic content market and contribute to Korean content being recognized on the world stage,” adding, “Benchmarking Hollywood will bring innovative changes in domestic content production environments as well as studio development, management, and operation.”
