Fermented Dairy Market Expected to Reach Around 2.3 Trillion KRW by 2026
On the 4th, Namyang Dairy Products announced the launch of ‘Bulgari Zero,’ a lactose-free fermented milk product, strengthening its fermented milk portfolio. Through this, Namyang Dairy Products plans to further solidify its position as the number one player in the fermented milk market.
The domestic fermented milk market continues to grow steadily, keeping pace with consumer trends that show a strong interest in health management. According to market research firm Euromonitor, the size of the fermented milk market, which was 1.8015 trillion KRW in 2018, grew to over 2 trillion KRW in 2022 and is expected to expand to approximately 2.3 trillion KRW by 2026. In this fermented milk market, Namyang Dairy Products held a 18.28% market share last year based on retail sales data from the Food Industry Statistics Information (aT) Market Link, ranking first.
Namyang Dairy Products attributes its number one position in the fermented milk market to its technology, quality, and a diverse lineup of steady sellers including ▲liquid ▲set (spoonable yogurt) ▲children’s yogurt products. These include liquid fermented milk products such as ‘Bulgari’ and ‘Wissen,’ set fermented milk products like ‘Spoonable Bulgari (Tteobul)’ and ‘Yogurt made with easily digestible milk (Sojalyo),’ as well as the representative domestic children’s yogurt ‘EO.’
In line with consumer trends, Namyang Dairy Products launched ‘Sojalyo Greek’ and fruit and vegetable fermented juice yogurt ‘Floralab’ last year. In October this year, it began producing ‘Goldenyo,’ a fermented milk product using turmeric, a specialty crop of Jindo County, and further strengthened its fermented milk portfolio with the launch of the lactose-free concept Bulgari Zero.
A Namyang Dairy Products official said, “Fermented milk is increasingly in demand as it can be used in various ways such as meal replacements and snacks,” adding, “We will continue to solidify our market position through new fermented milk products that offer diverse forms and flavors.”
