Healing Ganiyeok-gil Project Utilizing Local Characteristics Receives Positive Reviews
On the 4th, Asan City in Chungnam announced that it had received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award at the 20th Korea Local Autonomy Management Competition hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Since 2004, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety has annually selected and awarded local governments and local public institutions that implement outstanding policies, sharing exemplary cases.
Asan City was highly praised for its contribution to regional development and infrastructure establishment by utilizing local characteristics through the "Healing Small Station Road" project.
The Healing Small Station Road project involves creating five unique gardens along a 2.5km section of the abandoned Janghang Line railway, and it is scheduled for completion in 2025.
Maeng Heejeong, Head of Tourism Promotion, said, "Taking this award as an opportunity, we will expand the tourism infrastructure in the western region and work to transform it into a popular tourist destination."
