After Disbanding the 'Daenam Organization'... A New Group Emerges
Suspected Successor to the 'Criticism Leader' Institute for National Unification
"Yoon Facing a Total Crisis, South Korea Is a Nuclear Sacrifice"
North Korea, which has continued efforts to sever inter-Korean relations, has introduced a new organization targeting South Korea. It launched harsh verbal attacks against President Yoon Suk-yeol, calling him names such as 'Yoon Jae-ang.' This is interpreted as a follow-up measure to Chairman Kim Jong-un's 'hostile two-state theory' and an offensive aimed at the recent decline in President Yoon's approval ratings.
The North Korean Institute for Opposing Enemies claimed in a 'white paper' released on the 3rd that "Yoon Jae-ang has made the Republic of Korea a nuclear sacrifice." Regarding the background of issuing such a 'white paper criticizing South Korea,' it insisted, "It is to expose to the world the criminal identity and miserable fate of the unprecedented Yoon Suk-yeol puppet."
This is the first time that an organization called the Institute for Opposing Enemies has appeared in North Korean media. In the past, the Institute for National Reunification under the Workers' Party United Front Department, which led anti-South operations, analyzed South Korean affairs and published critical white papers. After Kim Jong-un's 'two-state theory,' the concept of reunification was discarded, and the United Front Department was renamed the 'Party Central Committee's 10th Bureau (Enemy Guidance Bureau).' It is presumed that the Institute for Opposing Enemies has inherited the role of the Institute for National Reunification.
North Korea's criticism of South Korea through this new organization is also interpreted as linked to domestic political circumstances. The Institute for Opposing Enemies stated, "The unprecedented Yoon Suk-yeol puppet is now facing a total crisis before even half of his term has passed," and claimed, "He is accelerating destruction with anti-communism, war, dictatorship, and evil governance surpassing all previous South Korean rulers." This appears to be an attempt to incite social division amid the decline in President Yoon's approval ratings.
It continued, "It is the fate imposed on the rulers of the Republic of Korea to learn how to live safely under the nose of a nuclear-armed country with which it shares the most hostile combatant relationship and a border," and "The only survival strategy is to acknowledge the objective reality of being weak and powerless and not to act rashly," adding "The past two and a half years of Yoon Suk-yeol puppet's administration have been a continuous 'gamble with death' that turns the entire Korean peninsula into a nuclear war sacrifice."
Meanwhile, the Institute for National Reunification, presumed to have changed its name to the Institute for Opposing Enemies, is an organization responsible for criticizing South Korea. In a 2011 white paper, it likened then-President Lee Myung-bak to a weightlifter. In May last year, through pro-North media, it also submitted a petition stating, "The South Korean public has sentenced the weightlifter Yoon Suk-yeol to impeachment."
