Chungnam Province announced on the 4th that it will restore six species of rare and endemic plants.

The Provincial Forest Resources Research Institute is promoting a restoration project to preserve the genetic resources of rare and endemic plants whose populations have declined due to factors such as climate warming.

The species to be restored are 183 individuals from six species, including Seonbaekmiggot, Bakjwinamu, Byeongariggonnamu, Gaksibutggot, Nogaknamu, and Beombucha, which have been propagated by the institute itself.

Last year, 342 individuals from six species, including Dokkaebibucha, were planted and have been continuously managed.

Kim Giho, Director of the Provincial Forest Resources Research Institute, said, "The restoration of rare and endemic species is an important activity to protect valuable genetic resources that are disappearing and to propagate and restore plants in crisis," adding, "We will do our best to manage rare plants native to the province."
