The recent status of former Chungnam Governor Ahn Hee-jung, who was serving a prison sentence for sexually assaulting his executive secretary and has been in seclusion since his release, has been revealed for the first time in 2 years and 3 months.

On the 2nd, Ahn attended his eldest son's wedding held at a hotel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, together with his ex-spouse, Mrs. Min Ju-won. This was disclosed when Yoon Eun-mi, the leader of his fan club 'Up to the 38th Parallel, Ahn Hee-jung!', posted photos on the fan club's social networking service (SNS) account. Yoon explained, "I attended the wedding of Jeong-gyun (Ahn’s son) on November 2nd. I am posting a few photos for those who could not attend," adding, "It was a happy day seeing both the governor and Mrs. Min smile brightly after a long time. Everyone who wanted to see them got to see them."

Previously, Ahn was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting his executive secretary Kim Ji-eun ten times and committing sexual harassment through abuse of power from July 2017 to February 2018 during his tenure as Chungnam Governor. It was later revealed that he divorced Mrs. Min in September 2021 while in prison, ending their 32-year marriage. After being released from Yeoju Prison on August 4, 2022, he has been living in seclusion in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Occasionally, he has held light gatherings such as walks or meals with supporters at pensions, but he has not engaged in any official external activities.

Meanwhile, Kim is currently pursuing a lawsuit demanding 300 million won in damages from Ahn. In July 2020, she claimed that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to Ahn’s sexual assault and secondary victimization, seeking compensation for emotional damages and medical expenses. However, Ahn’s side argued that "the criminal case result is only one piece of evidence" and denied responsibility for compensation related to secondary victimization. Subsequently, the first trial court ruled partially in favor of the plaintiff, ordering Ahn and Chungcheongnam-do to jointly pay 83.47 million won in damages. Kim appealed this decision in June, and the first hearing of the appeal trial is scheduled for the 27th. She stated, "I will continue to fight to the end against the unrepentant perpetrator Ahn Hee-jung, Chungnam Provincial Office, and the secondary perpetrators to take a meaningful step forward."
