[Polpol News] Yoon's Approval Rating Hits Lowest... Supporters in PK, Conservatives, and 70+ Age Group Decline

President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has once again hit a new low. There has been a noticeable departure among core support groups, including conservatives and those aged 70 and above.


According to a poll released on the 4th by polling firm Realmeter, President Yoon's approval rating dropped by 2.2 percentage points from the previous week to 22.4%, marking the lowest point in the weekly regular survey (week 100). Negative evaluations of President Yoon rose by 2.8 percentage points to 74.2%. After showing a downward trend recently, President Yoon's approval rating had stabilized last week but declined again, setting a new post-inauguration low in just two weeks.


President Yoon's approval rating declined among so-called core support groups. In Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (PK), it fell by 7.0 percentage points (29.9% → 22.9%), among those aged 70 and above by 6.1 percentage points (43.3% → 37.2%), and among conservatives by 8.0 percentage points (47.8% → 39.8%).

Looking at daily public opinion trends, the poll on the 1st, late in the week, showed an approval rating of 21.9%, the lowest ever recorded. Earlier, on the 31st of last month, the Democratic Party had released a recorded phone call between President Yoon and Mr. Myeong Tae-gyun containing content related to the nomination of former lawmaker Kim Young-sun.


In party approval ratings, the Democratic Party's support rose by 3.9 percentage points from the previous week to 47.1%. The People Power Party's support fell by 3.2 percentage points to 29.4%. The Innovation Party received 7.0%, and the Reform Party 4.5%.


The presidential approval rating poll was conducted by Realmeter on behalf of Energy Economy Newspaper from the 28th of last month to the 1st of this month, surveying 2,516 voters aged 18 and above nationwide using 97% mobile and 3% landline automated response methods. The margin of error was ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a response rate of 2.9%. The margin of error was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a response rate of 2.0%.
