The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) will hold the "2024 Digital Education Support Forum for Early Childhood" on the 5th. The event aims to enhance understanding of digital education for young children and explore various practical support measures.
This forum will be held under the theme "Digital Education for Early Childhood, Sae·Ba·Si (A Time to View Anew)." About 100 participants, including early childhood education professionals from the Ministry of Education, metropolitan and provincial offices of education, education support offices, and teachers from digital-based pilot kindergartens, are expected to attend. It will also be broadcast live on the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education's YouTube channel (GO3) for online participation.
The forum will begin with presentations by three professors from the Department of Early Childhood Education on the topics: ▲The Life of Young Children in the Digital Environment Here and Now ▲Digital Competencies of Young Children in a New Era ▲Support for Sustainable Digital Education for Young Children.
Following this, a discussion on "Support and Cooperation for Digital Education for Young Children" will take place. First, a video featuring the voices of young children will be shown, and Professor Kim Ho (Gyeongin National University of Education) will chair the session. Parents, kindergarten teachers, and research fellows from the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education will present their views. A Q&A session with both on-site and online participants will follow regarding the discussion topics.
The Office of Education expects that this forum will help ▲build understanding and consensus on digital education for young children ▲create a desirable digital education environment ▲strengthen the operational capacity for digital education for young children through deliberation within the educational community.
Jang Hyun-woo, Director of the Early Childhood Education Division at the Office of Education, stated, "This forum provides a platform for public discourse on creating a desirable digital education environment for young children," adding, "We will carefully review the digital education-related proposals presented at the forum and actively work to develop practical implementation plans."
