Completion Ceremony of the 1st Happy Challenge at Dangam and Gaegum Living Areas, Busanjin-gu, 10 AM on the 4th
Realizing a Happy Challenge to Create a Happy Community and an Attractive Living Space with High Quality of Life
Busan City will hold the completion ceremony for the ‘1st Happy Challenge’ at 10:30 a.m. on the 4th in the Dangam and Gaegum living area of Busanjin-gu.
On this day, the completion ceremony will begin with a ▲village community event ▲participatory garden flower planting event at the newly created Dangam Linear Park, attended by about 250 people including Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Busanjin-gu Mayor Kim Young-wook, and local residents.
Afterwards, the event will move to Baekyang Family Park and proceed in the order of ▲opening declaration of the completion ceremony ▲congratulatory speeches ▲resident impressions ▲completion performance. National Assembly members Lee Heon-seung and Jeong Seong-guk will deliver congratulatory speeches in writing.
At the ‘village community event,’ various events will be held as a space showcasing the utilization of the linear park, including health checkups for the elderly and a small library book festival. At the ‘participatory garden flower planting event,’ children from the Nari Daycare Center at Dangam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center will plant flowers themselves, demonstrating the meaning of a ‘garden nurtured together by local residents.’
Following this, the newly renovated Baekyang Family Park will be opened during the completion ceremony, celebrating the completion of the 1st Happy Challenge with about 250 citizens.
The ‘Happy Challenge’ project is a representative city pledge project that realizes the value and philosophy of the 15-minute city by creating people-centered roads, parks, and spaces for exchange and communication among citizens, aiming to create a ‘happy community and an attractive living space with a high quality of life.’
In August 2022, the city selected the Dangam and Gaegum areas as the first Happy Challenge target sites and has been promoting various policy tasks step-by-step through expert consultations and public-private cooperation (governance).
Major completed tasks so far include ▲remodeling of Baekyang Family Park ▲creation of a forest trail in Gaegum Theme Park ▲establishment of rest areas in the Dangam and Gaegum areas.
Remaining tasks include ▲establishment of the Gaegum-dong Haha Center ▲second phase of bicycle path construction, which are planned to be completed sequentially by 2025.
The city is accelerating the creation of an environment where leisure, culture, education, and rest services can be universally enjoyed within living areas by expanding major anchor facilities of the ‘15-minute city Busan’ such as the National Sports Center, children’s complex cultural space Deulraknallak, Haha Center for social participation of the new senior generation, eco-friendly senior job Our Neighborhood Social Value Management (ESG) Center, and village health centers throughout the region.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “‘15-minute city Busan’ ultimately aims to create a happy Busan by enabling citizens to interact and form warm communities,” adding, “Using the Dangam and Gaegum Happy Challenge as a stepping stone, we will strive to ensure that the values and philosophy of the ‘15-minute city Busan’ encompass all generations of Busan citizens and all times and spaces in Busan.”
