Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold the ‘2024 Geumcheon-gu Resident Autonomy Expo’ at the district office plaza starting from 9 a.m. on November 5.

The expo was prepared to widely promote resident autonomy activities and to share excellent activity cases to raise residents’ awareness of resident autonomy.

At the expo, various events will be held, including ▲ operation of resident autonomy committee activity exhibition booths ▲ autonomous community center program presentations ▲ pilot operation of exhibition booths showcasing rural resident autonomy committee activities through urban-rural exchange ▲ and a contest for presenting excellent cases of resident autonomy activity support projects.

The resident autonomy committee activity exhibition booths will offer a variety of attractions and enjoyable experiences. Exhibits will include outstanding project cases by neighborhood, operation of village vitality centers, urban-rural exchanges, special vacation programs, and introductions to autonomous community center programs.

At the autonomous community center program presentations, teams composed of course participants will showcase various performances. To provide new attractions, priority will be given to performances from newly established programs, offering a unique enjoyment experience.

In particular, this expo will pilot operate an exhibition booth featuring rural lifelong learning and autonomous activities of the Gode-myeon Resident Autonomy Committee in Dangjin-si, Chungnam, which has a sisterhood relationship with the Siheung 2-dong Resident Autonomy Committee. This was prepared to share autonomous committee activities between urban and rural areas and to broaden the scope of resident autonomy.

The contest for presenting excellent cases of resident autonomy activity support projects is another highlight of this expo. Each neighborhood will select one excellent case from their resident autonomy activity support projects and present it through autonomous methods such as skits or plays. The judging will adopt a two-way evaluation system reflecting expert assessments and residents’ opinions to enhance fairness and transparency.

Seo Gyeong-cheol, Chairperson of the Geumcheon-gu Resident Autonomy Operation Council (Chairperson of the Doksan 1-dong Resident Autonomy Committee), said, “The resident autonomy committee activities, which have continued for seven years, will be an opportunity to confirm that they reflect the voices of more diverse residents and put them into practice,” and added, “We ask for the active interest and participation of residents.”

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “I hope this expo will be an opportunity to widely promote the activities of the Geumcheon-gu Resident Autonomy Committee, share each other’s achievements, and learn together,” and added, “We will continue to provide administrative support so that the resident autonomy committee can grow sustainably.”
