On November 8, held at Jungnang-gu Office Basement Auditorium
Selected 'Jungnang Scholars' including top performers and special talent scholarship students, followed by scholarship support
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the ‘Jungnang Scholarship Award Ceremony’ on November 8th at the district office's underground auditorium.
At this scholarship award ceremony, a total of approximately 180 million KRW in scholarships will be provided to 379 students selected as the second batch of Jungnang scholars for 2024.
The students selected as Jungnang scholars were chosen from various fields, including ▲academic excellence scholars ▲arts and physical education talent scholars ▲low-income family scholars ▲and multi-child family scholars.
The district established the ‘Jungnang-gu Scholarship Fund Establishment and Management Ordinance’ in 2008 to discover and nurture outstanding local talents and support economically disadvantaged students. From 2010 to this year, scholarships totaling approximately 6.44 billion KRW have been awarded to 7,089 students over 15 years.
As of 2024, the scholarship fund has grown to about 11.2 billion KRW, making it the largest among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul. Additionally, this year, scholarships totaling about 370 million KRW were provided to 579 students in two rounds.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “The Jungnang Scholarship embodies the hopes of 400,000 residents and aims to support our students in realizing their dreams. We will strive even harder to meet the residents’ expectations and interest in education.”
The district is strengthening public education with the goal of ‘a strong education in Jungnang’ by constructing the 2nd Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center to ensure education is accessible to all, and plans to build an astronomy science center to foster scientific talents.
Moreover, it has allocated a budget of 12 billion KRW for school education expenses, ranking second among Seoul’s autonomous districts.
