[US Election 2024]
In Pennsylvania, "The Day I Left, the Border Was the Safest"
With the U.S. presidential election just two days away, former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, has once again raised allegations of election fraud in 2020, claiming he should not have left the White House that year. Analysts suggest this is an attempt to build a pretext for refusing to accept defeat in the upcoming election.
On the 3rd (local time), at a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania, former President Trump stated, "On the day I left, our country had the safest borders in history."
He said, "I should not have left," adding, "Honestly, we did so well and were so great." He continued, "That's why now there are hundreds of lawyers at every polling place (to prevent election fraud)."
Trump's remarks on this day echoed what he told his aides after losing the 2020 election. At that time, he said, "I’m just not going to leave," and "How can I leave when I won the election?"
Foreign media view Trump's statements as an effort to build a justification to overturn the election results if he loses the election two days later. Previously, after losing the 2020 election, Trump also refused to concede and incited his supporters, leading to the January 6 Capitol riot.
CNN pointed out, "Trump repeatedly made baseless claims of election fraud at the Pennsylvania rally," adding, "Trump’s Sunday rally remarks seem to be a return to the playbook he used in 2020, laying the groundwork to challenge the 2024 election results."
