Seogangseok, Songpa District Mayor: "We Will Let Go of Old Authority and Fulfill Public Duty Through Action"
On November 1, two months before 2025, Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it held a 2-day, 1-night workshop in the Chuncheon area of Gangwon-do with 84 senior officials of grade 5 and above.
At the midpoint of the 8th elected term, the district held the workshop to reaffirm the core values of its vision, “Serving Administration” and “Creativity, Innovation, and Fairness,” within the organization. This event was planned not as a simple outing but as an “organizational building” initiative to share the future vision of Songpa and consolidate the capabilities of each department.
On the first day, presentations were made by eight bureaus, offices, and divisions to propose future visions and announce implementation strategies. With the motto “Creating a premium city that serves residents as owners,” departments shared their plans and firmly renewed their commitment.
In particular, a blueprint was presented to enhance residents’ convenience and quality of life, driven by the “supportive administration, not regulation” approach that Mayor Seo has consistently emphasized. Each department head introduced various development and infrastructure expansion plans to be pursued in the future, focusing on key projects such as the “Songpa-daero Premium Street Development Project.”
Additionally, new policies reflecting the demands of the times, such as expanding welfare for the elderly in response to the advent of a super-aged society, were announced as the district prepared for its future with one heart.
On the second day, a leadership special lecture was held under the theme “The Role of Executives Who Earn Respect and Support.” Participants learned about horizontal leadership that gains members’ hearts through respect and communication and connects it to performance, reflecting on the true qualities of a leader.
Moreover, to cultivate the “literary sensibility” of the 84 leaders, opportunities were provided to leave familiar places, gain new experiences, and recharge ideas. The schedule included a night of harmony to build camaraderie and teamwork beyond rigid formats, a meditation breathing class to relieve stress, and a themed garden tour benchmarking a walkable garden city.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Both the mayor and public officials have the solemn duty to be democratically representative and legitimate and to represent the will of the residents,” adding, “Songpa-gu public officials will put aside outdated authority consciousness and serve residents unwaveringly through sincere actions, not just words.”
