Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun is attending the 12th Uijeongbu City Harmony Climbing Competition on the 2nd and climbing with citizens. Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 2nd that it held the "12th Uijeongbu City Harmony Climbing Competition," where people with disabilities and non-disabled people climbed the Jikdong Park walking trail together.
Hosted by the Uijeongbu Disabled Sports Association and organized by the Uijeongbu Disabled Mountaineering Federation, about 600 people with and without disabilities enjoyed a pleasant time together amidst the spectacular scenery of Jikdong Park, adorned with colorful autumn foliage.
At the opening ceremony, Mayor Kim Dong-geun and attending guests climbed approximately a 3 km section from Uijeongbu Arts Center to Jikdong Park soccer field together with people with disabilities, sharing a time of communication and harmony.
For this event, Uijeongbu City and the organizers paid special attention to safety management by thoroughly checking and reinforcing the climbing course with the participating people with disabilities. Additionally, many volunteers worked alongside families of people with disabilities to ensure the hiking went smoothly, successfully completing the event without any safety accidents.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "I am glad that people with disabilities, who usually have limited opportunities for outdoor activities, could enjoy hiking surrounded by beautiful autumn leaves and fresh fall breeze," adding, "We will continue to create many opportunities for people with and without disabilities to come together and strive to make Uijeongbu a city where people with disabilities are happy."
