Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on the 2nd (local time) that Israel and the United States would face an "overwhelming response" to their attacks.
According to major foreign media, Ayatollah Khamenei said during a meeting with local university students that "whether it is the Zionist regime (Israel) or the United States, any attack on Iran and the resistance front will definitely receive an overwhelming response," as reported by Iranian state media. However, he did not provide detailed explanations regarding the timing or scope of the response.
Following Israel's attack on Iranian military facilities on the 26th of last month, he had responded cautiously, stating that Israel's attack should neither be exaggerated nor underestimated. Some speculate that his remarks on this day indicate that Iran's Supreme Leader has decided on retaliatory attacks against Israel.
Earlier, on the 31st of last month, major foreign media reported that Iran might carry out an attack before the U.S. presidential election on the 5th. Israel destroyed Iran's missile production facilities and air defense systems in an airstrike on the 26th of the same month in retaliation for Iran's large-scale air raids on the 1st of last month.
