Accurate Responses and Actions on Recommendations... Implementing Citizen Communication Governance

On the afternoon of the 1st, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam held the November 2024 managers' meeting under the theme of ‘2024 Eups, Myeons, and Dongs Touring Meeting Proposal Progress Report’ at the city hall’s main conference room, attended by about 80 people including heads of departments and offices, officers in charge, and heads of relevant departments.

In this report meeting, the progress and future plans regarding the proposals raised during the touring meetings held over seven days from January 8 to 17 earlier this year?conducted in a free and open Q&A format with citizens to realize the values of communication and fairness?were presented.


Each department reported on △ utilization of the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency related to urban regeneration projects △ promotion of the Wonjeoksan (Wicheon) Bongsudae tourism resource project △ establishment of a crematorium in Yangsan △ resident tours related to the biogas expansion project △ opening of the Dongsan Jangseong trail entrance △ installation of rockfall prevention facilities within Naewonsa Temple grounds △ continued use of the temporary road in Jujinheung District and rapid construction of the auxiliary road △ installation of pergolas in the one-pyeong garden above Deokgye Underpass △ concerns about parking difficulties related to the Seokgye local food store opening and relocation of existing sports facilities within the village △ installation of sewage pipelines from Eondeok Farm to Sotbalsan Park Cemetery, among others, and plans to accelerate the smooth implementation of these proposals.


Yangsan City holds touring meetings every year across its 13 eups, myeons, and dongs to listen to citizens’ voices, share major city projects, and have direct face-to-face time with citizens to freely discuss local issues and complaints, considering together how to reflect them in city administration.


Mayor Na Dong-yeon stated, “The voices raised as citizens’ proposals must be well reflected in city administration, and it is important to have detailed attention and active feedback throughout the entire process of handling proposals so that the process can be immediately shared with citizens. The touring meetings held annually with direct citizen participation should serve as a communication channel with citizens and become a strong support that allows city administration to proceed steadily. Please keep in mind that all proposals are closely related to citizens’ daily lives and make efforts to promptly inform citizens of the handling process and results.”


He also urged thorough efforts on urgent tasks such as ‘organizational restructuring direction and thorough preparation’ to respond to local extinction and realize sustainable Yangsan, ‘thorough discovery of welfare blind spots to support welfare crisis households and vulnerable groups in preparation for the winter season’ to prevent anyone from being left out, ‘full preparation for the 2nd regular council session’ where key agendas such as the 2025 initial budget review and work reports will be conducted, and ‘full support for the 2025 College Scholastic Ability Test’ including noise control, quarantine management, provision of transportation convenience, and adjustment of staff working hours (10 a.m.) in cooperation with related organizations as the test day (November 14) approaches.
