16 Organizations Participate... Strengthening Practical Response Capabilities through the 'Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill'
Gapyeong-gun has been conducting the "2024 Disaster Response Safe Korea Training" to strengthen disaster safety capabilities on the 31st of last month at Jaraseom Namdo and the area around the Bukhan River. Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) announced on the 1st that it conducted the '2024 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill' on the 31st of last month at Jaraseom Namdo and the area around the Bukhan River to strengthen disaster safety capabilities.
This drill was conducted assuming a complex disaster situation where an inland waterway guided boat accident and a large-scale water pollution incident occur simultaneously. A total of 16 organizations and groups, including Gapyeong Fire Station, Gapyeong Police Station, and the Army 66th Division, participated. The drill involved 219 personnel, 17 vessels, 1 helicopter, and about 40 pieces of equipment.
Through this drill, Gapyeong-gun established an organic cooperation system with 13 collaborative organizations and conducted various exercises aimed at improving situation dissemination, accident response, and recovery capabilities in the event of a disaster. In particular, it strengthened on-site practical response capabilities and plans to continue establishing preparedness for various disaster accidents.
During the '2024 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill' period, which began on the 28th of last month, the county also conducted earthquake evacuation drills, functional continuity education and discussion training, as well as training on the use of fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Governor Seo Tae-won expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank all the organizations and groups that participated in the drill," and added, "We will do our best to build a safe Gapyeong by firmly strengthening the civil-government-military cooperation system and continuously enhancing practical response capabilities."
