Efforts to Promote Hydrogen Economy Including Fostering Hydrogen Companies Recognized
Mayor Park: "Hydrogen Industry is a Future Industry... Supporting Its Rooting in the Region"
Samcheok City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Park Sang-su) received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 3rd Hydrogen Day Ceremony held on the 1st. The Hydrogen Day Ceremony is an event jointly hosted by the Korea Hydrogen Union and Korea H2 Summit, and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. This event was organized to encourage those who contributed to industrial development and strengthening national competitiveness through the activation of the hydrogen economy, as well as to promote unity and morale among hydrogen industry workers.
At the 3rd Hydrogen Day ceremony held on the 1st at Sebitseom in Seoul, Samcheok City received the Prime Minister's Commendation. On this day, Park Sang-su, Mayor of Samcheok City, personally attended the 3rd Hydrogen Day Ceremony held at Sebitseom (Gabitseom, Chaebitseom) in Seoul.
Samcheok City was recognized for its efforts in fostering the hydrogen industry by focusing local government capabilities on the hydrogen industry, such as establishing Gangwon Province’s first hydrogen charging station and a hydrogen production facility equipped with the province’s only shipping facility, under the city brand “Clean Hydrogen Dream City H2DREAM! Samcheok.”
In particular, Samcheok City was highly evaluated for its efforts to revitalize the hydrogen economy as a basic local government, including passing the preliminary feasibility study for the 2023 Hydrogen Storage and Transportation Cluster Project, successfully completing the Hydrogen R&D Specialized City Townhouse, and promoting projects such as the Hydrogen Company Development Industry-Academia-Research Cluster Project and the establishment of the Liquid Hydrogen Reliability Evaluation Center.
On this day, Mayor Park Sang-su of Samcheok City said in his acceptance speech, “The hydrogen industry is a major project that will lead Samcheok City’s next 100 years, and we will continue to strive to ensure that the hydrogen industry takes root in the region.”
