Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 1st that it signed a 'Welfare Governance' business agreement on the 31st of last month to strengthen local welfare through public-private cooperation.
This welfare governance refers to establishing a cooperative system among the city, private organizations, and civic groups to effectively promote and implement Uijeongbu-style welfare projects.
At the agreement ceremony held at the Rotary Sunlight Academy in the district, 50 people including Mayor Kim Dong-geun, Lee Man-ho (Hosansunim), CEO of People Helping Neighbors, and Lee Young-seok, Vice Chairman of Rotary International RMCH Asia, gathered to join forces to strengthen local welfare.
The main cooperation items include ▲ promotion of local welfare projects and establishment of a collaborative system ▲ fostering joint development through activation of Uijeongbu City welfare governance ▲ administrative support such as education and employment assistance for nurturing local leaders among welfare recipients ▲ mutual cooperation of welfare projects by each institution.
Hosansunim said, "Through this community exchange, I hope that multicultural families in difficulty will receive education and stable employment connections, and furthermore contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "Efforts from both the public and private sectors are important for creating a community where all Uijeongbu citizens can enjoy a happy and healthy life," adding, "I look forward to welfare governance being successfully established and developing into a true partnership through continuous cooperation and communication."
