Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 1st that it completed the cleaning and disinfection of the Topyeong Water Purification Plant, water storage tanks, and pumping station reservoirs (waterways), which began in September, to ensure a clean and safe supply of tap water throughout the year.

The city conducts cleaning and disinfection of the Topyeong Water Purification Plant and water supply facilities twice a year, and this time, special focus was placed on preparing for green algae and small organism larvae that occur in the Han River raw water during the summer season.

The method involved sequentially draining the water from the facilities and using high-pressure water jets and cleaning equipment to remove foreign substances from the walls and floors. Cleaning of the Topyeong Water Purification Plant reservoirs took a total of 10 days, while cleaning of the water supply facilities took 40 days in total.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri City stated, “Supplying clean tap water should be a top priority for the health of our citizens, so more thorough cleaning is necessary,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to provide high-quality tap water.”
