Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold the 2024 Lifelong Learning Festival "A Journey Through Learning" on the 12th of this month from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Garam Small Theater and Exhibition Hall in Yongsan Art Hall.
This event is an opportunity to reflect on the value and meaning of lifelong learning and to share and spread the achievements by exhibiting works created by lifelong learning institution students. The festival will feature experiences, exhibitions, a commemorative ceremony, and a special lecture by a notable figure. The experience and exhibition programs will run from 11 a.m., while the commemorative ceremony and special lecture will begin at 2 p.m.
The experience programs include six types of workshops: calligraphy artwork, picture books and bookmarks, Scandia Moss plant decorations, pressed flower hand mirrors, instant caricatures, and handmade leather bracelets, as well as a photo booth for taking four-cut life photos.
Participants can pre-register for the workshops through the Yongsan-gu Education Comprehensive Portal. The photo booth experience is available only to those who subscribe to the KakaoTalk "Yongsan Alert Talk" channel. By adding Yongsan Alert Talk, subscribers receive a useful package of district news every Friday.
At the exhibition hall, visitors can enjoy over 200 works from outstanding program participant institutions, neighborhood learning centers, adult literacy education institutions, excellent learning clubs, and lifelong learning students.
The special lecture will be delivered by Professor Jung Hee-won, a well-known geriatrician and author of books such as "Low-Speed Aging Diet." Professor Jung will speak on the topic "Protecting Myself by Aging Slowly Amid Uncertainty and Stress," focusing on aging management.
The tuition fee is free, and like the experience programs, pre-registration is required through the Yongsan-gu Education Comprehensive Portal. Registration is limited to the first 300 applicants.
Mayor Park Hee-young stated, "Lifelong learning, based on re-education and advanced education, is essential to wisely cope with rapidly changing society. We are fully prepared to ensure that everyone can take an interest in and enjoy lifelong learning, and we look forward to welcoming all residents."
