Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 1st that it will establish a wildfire prevention task force at the city hall and each district office during the autumn wildfire caution period (November 1 to December 15) and enter an emergency duty system to prepare for wildfires.

During the autumn wildfire caution period, the city selected 47 temporary workers for the specialized wildfire prevention and suppression team to prevent wildfires.

Pre-inspections were also conducted on major wildfire suppression equipment such as wildfire suppression vehicles, wildfire drones, and mechanized equipment. Additionally, wildfire suppression helicopters were deployed to conduct wildfire prevention guidance flights and enable rapid wildfire suppression.

Furthermore, six surveillance posts located at important forest points and ten wildfire surveillance cameras will be operated to monitor and prevent wildfires. By November, eight wildfire suppression equipment storage boxes will be installed on hiking trails in forests frequently visited by citizens, such as Gobongsan Mountain.

In addition, to strengthen wildfire prevention publicity, a wildfire prevention campaign will be conducted during the autumn wildfire caution period. Wildfire prevention personnel will be deployed to major hiking trails and wildfire-prone areas to crack down on illegal burning activities and collect flammable materials, thereby preventing illegal acts in advance.

A city official stated, "We will do our best to prevent the causes of wildfires in advance, thoroughly establish a wildfire response system, protect the safety and property of citizens, and preserve the beautiful forests of Goyang Special City."
