Kim Yong-hyun, Guri City Council Member, Holds Meeting on Enacting Fire Prevention Ordinance for Electric Vehicle Exclusive Parking Zones Councilor Kim Yong-hyun of Guri City Council is holding an advisory meeting for the enactment of the "Ordinance on Fire Prevention and Safety Facility Support for Electric Vehicle Exclusive Parking Zones in Guri City."

The Guri City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Shin Dong-hwa) held an advisory meeting on the 31st in the Guri City Council multi-room to discuss the enactment of the "Ordinance on Fire Prevention and Safety Facility Support for Electric Vehicle Exclusive Parking Zones in Guri City," proposed by Councilor Kim Yong-hyun.

This ordinance is being prepared by Councilor Kim Yong-hyun in response to the rapid spread of environmentally friendly vehicles such as electric cars in our society, which has led to frequent fires in charging facilities and exclusive parking zones. Since such fires can escalate into major incidents in multi-family housing like apartments, there is a risk that necessitates the installation of safety facilities and the establishment of a prompt fire response system to prevent such incidents in advance.

The draft of the "Ordinance on Fire Prevention and Safety Facility Support for Electric Vehicle Exclusive Parking Zones in Guri City" includes provisions for ▲establishing fire prevention and publicity plans ▲installing and supporting safety facilities ▲forming and operating safety inspection teams ▲supporting relocation and installation of fire-vulnerable facilities ▲providing support in case of fire occurrences.

The advisory meeting was attended by Chairman Shin Dong-hwa, Vice Chairman Kim Seong-tae, Operations Committee Chair Jeong Eun-cheol, Councilors Yang Kyung-ae and Lee Kyung-hee of the Guri City Council, as well as about ten representatives from related organizations and groups including Guri City, Guri Fire Station, Volunteer Fire Brigade, and the Guri Apartment Association. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange opinions on fires and their risks in electric vehicle exclusive parking zones and to hear diverse views from the field.

Councilor Kim Yong-hyun stated, "Through today's advisory meeting, we were able to listen to various opinions from related departments and organizations regarding fires involving electric vehicles or charging stations. I believe this has become an opportunity to create an ordinance that can practically assist the field." He added, "I will do my best to propose and implement this ordinance as soon as possible to alleviate citizens' concerns about electric vehicle fires and to protect the safety and property of our citizens."
