Gwangju City Plants King Cherry Trees Along Mokhyeoncheon Stream Walkway

Gwangju City Plants King Cherry Trees Along Mokhyeoncheon Stream Walkway Gwangju City is taking a commemorative photo after completing the 'King Cherry Tree Planting' event on the Mokhyeoncheon Trail on the 31st.

On the 31st, Gwangju City in Gyeonggi held a ‘King Cherry Tree Planting’ event at the Mokhyeoncheon Stream walking trail.

About 100 members of organizations and local residents participated in the event, planting over 100 king cherry trees along a 1 km section of the Mokhyeoncheon Stream walking trail (from Tanbeol Military Base to Hoideok Bridge to Jecheong Bridge to in front of Shinil Apartment).

The city expects that planting king cherry trees will create a walking trail course where people and nature can harmoniously coexist around Mokhyeoncheon, enhancing the ecological value of the area. It is also seen as a foothold for creating a cherry blossom path where families can stroll together.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “Each tree planted today will become a precious forest resource for our descendants in the distant future,” adding, “I hope these trees will announce the arrival of spring for many years and bring joy to all who visit this place.”
