The contest was hosted by Busan City and organized by the Busan Youth Activity Promotion Center, and took place on the 26th at Busan YMCA. After a document screening, 10 youth teams from the Busan area advanced to the finals, where they presented and communicated on the theme of ‘Busan for the Improvement of Youth Human Rights.’
On the day, the Gijang-gun Youth Participation Committee participated under the team name ‘Eoneo Abuse (Kim Seojin, Yang Chaewon, Lee Haeun, Busan Jungang Middle School Grade 1)’ and proposed the ‘Busan Youth Proper Speech Project,’ a plan to improve the culture of youth verbal violence, titled ‘Really! It’s Rea(lly)!’ Their confident and lively presentation received high praise from participants, earning them the Gold Prize (Chairman’s Award of the Busan City Council).
The participating youth committee members said, “Through this policy proposal contest, it was a valuable opportunity to reflect on youth identity by participating in social issues and policy decision-making processes and expressing our opinions,” and added, “We will continue to make various proposals and activities to improve youth human rights.”
Jeong Jongbok, the county governor, said, “I am very pleased that the outstanding policy capabilities of local youth have been recognized externally through this award,” and encouraged, “We will actively reflect youth opinions in county administration and further expand opportunities for youth policy participation.”
Gijang-gun has made multifaceted efforts to promote youth policies tailored to the perspectives of young people. By supporting the operation of youth participation organizations such as the Youth Participation Committee, it guarantees youth participation and policy formulation for problem-solving on their own. It also supports various activities to strengthen youth capabilities, including ▲Youth Rights and Participation Camp ▲Dalbam Dalcho Youth Gathering ▲Youth exchange projects between Gijang and Muju.
