The prosecution investigating allegations of employment corruption involving Lee Jeong-geun, former Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Party of Korea, in relation to Korea Integrated Logistics, has conducted a search of the former aide to Kim Hyun-mi, former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

According to the legal community on the 31st, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Jae-hoon) carried out a search of the residence and other locations of Mr. A, who served as a policy aide to former Minister Kim.

Former Minister Kim, along with former Presidential Chief of Staff Noh Young-min and two other political figures with close ties including Lee Jeong-geun, is under investigation for allegedly exerting influence on Korea Integrated Logistics through Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport officials to appoint these acquaintances to advisory positions.

Korea Integrated Logistics is a company wholly owned by CJ Logistics, but since it operates a cargo terminal facility built on land owned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, it is known to have appointed Ministry-recommended personnel with logistics policy experience as full-time advisors. The prosecution is also examining whether former Minister Kim, who was the Minister at the time, improperly intervened in Lee’s employment process.

In July, the prosecution conducted searches of the residences of former Minister Kim and former Chief of Staff Noh, as well as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport offices, and is expected to summon former Minister Kim and others for questioning soon.
