Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do), Department of Clinical Pathology (Department Head Kim Jong-wan), announced on the 31st that second-year student Hwang Da-sol won the Grand Prize at the ‘2024 30th Annual International Conference of the Korean Society for Medical and Biological Sciences’ held at Busan Catholic University on the 26th.
This conference is a gathering of domestic and international researchers to share and discuss the latest research results in medical and biological sciences.
Under the guidance of Professor Kim Hye-ran of the Department of Clinical Pathology, the presentation titled ‘A Comprehensive Analysis of ZBTB40 Expression in Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma’ dealt with the expression of the ZBTB40 gene in hepatocellular carcinoma and its potential as a biomarker, providing fundamental data for early diagnosis and the development of new treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma.
Student Hwang Da-sol said, “Based on this research, I want to elucidate the role of the ZBTB40 gene in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma and contribute to the development of more effective treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma in the future,” adding, “I wish to enter graduate school to enhance my research capabilities in a more systematic and advanced research environment.”
The Department of Clinical Pathology at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has demonstrated excellent research capabilities in the field of medical and biological sciences through this award. Building on this achievement, the department is revitalizing major clubs to expand opportunities for students to actively participate in research and provide important opportunities for students to experience actual research processes, thereby developing their experimental design and analysis skills.
