"Do Not Start Wildfires" ... Changwon Special City Launches Comprehensive Wildfire Prevention Measures

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has designated the period from November 1 this year to May 15 next year as the wildfire caution period and will fully implement comprehensive wildfire prevention measures, including the establishment and operation of a wildfire prevention headquarters.

"Do Not Start Wildfires" ... Changwon Special City Launches Comprehensive Wildfire Prevention Measures Completed the selection and specialized training of wildfire monitoring personnel.

To operate the wildfire caution period, the city has designated and announced 5,273.4 hectares of forest as restricted entry zones and has completed the selection and specialized training of 507 wildfire monitoring personnel.

With the goal of establishing a rapid response system and minimizing damage, the city plans to strengthen mobile patrols and maintain close cooperation with related organizations.

In particular, wildfire caution flags and wildfire monitoring posts will be installed at the entrances of major hiking trails, and a firebreak will be secured by removing flammable materials near forest edges during November. The forest departments of the five district offices will make every effort to prevent agricultural residue burning wildfires by providing agricultural residue shredding services, thereby proactively eliminating wildfire risk factors.

Park Jin-yeol, Director of the Green City Project Office, stated, “We will mobilize all administrative power to protect citizens’ lives, property, and precious natural environment from wildfires,” and added, “Since wildfire prevention requires small attention and practice from all of us, we ask that you refrain from lighting fires near forests or bringing fire sources into forest areas.”
