Jeong Gyo-seon Promoted to Chairman of Hyundai Home Shopping... Hyundai Department Store Chooses a 'Quiet Change'

Jung Kyo-sun, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group, has been promoted to Chairman of Hyundai Home Shopping. Jung Kyo-sun, the younger brother of Jung Ji-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group, has been leading the home shopping business as Vice Chairman and CEO of Hyundai Home Shopping.

Hyundai Department Store Group conducted its 2025 regular executive appointments on the 31st, including the promotion of Jung Kyo-sun to Chairman. The appointments involved 60 people, with 29 promotions, and the scale of the personnel changes was similar to previous years.

Vice Chairman Jung Kyo-sun has served as CEO of Hyundai Home Shopping since 2009, was promoted to Vice Chairman in 2012, and has now been elevated to Chairman after 14 years. However, a Hyundai Department Store Group official stated, "At the group level, he will maintain his position as Vice Chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group as before, assisting Chairman Jung Ji-sun, and will jointly lead overall group management based on the single holding company governance structure."

Since launching the holding company Hyundai G.F. Holdings in December last year, Chairman Jung Ji-sun and Vice Chairman Jung Kyo-sun have continued their 'brotherly management.' The company explained that the promotion from Vice Chairman to Chairman of Hyundai Home Shopping is intended to strengthen responsible management as CEO of Hyundai Home Shopping. A group official said, "As Hyundai Home Shopping's growth slowdown continues, it has become important to strengthen existing business capabilities and secure new growth engines, strong leadership characterized by insight and drive, derived from Vice Chairman Jung Kyo-sun’s 16 years of experience as CEO since 2009, is necessary."

Accordingly, a professional manager appointed as CEO of Hyundai Home Shopping will plan and execute mid- to short-term business strategies, while Chairman Jung Kyo-sun will focus on securing new growth engines at the group level and pursuing long-term growth strategies for home shopping.

Meanwhile, in this personnel reshuffle, all major affiliate CEOs were retained, and heads of underperforming business units were replaced.

First, for Hyundai Duty Free, Park Jang-seo, Head of Sales Division, was appointed as CEO. Park, a duty-free business expert, has been responsible for duty-free sales at major domestic duty-free shops for 33 years since 1992 and has served as Head of Sales Division at Hyundai Duty Free since joining in 2020.

Lee Jin-won, Head of Food Service Business Division at Hyundai Green Food, was appointed as the new CEO of Hyundai L&C, a comprehensive building materials company. Lee has proven his management capabilities through finance leadership roles at Hyundai Department Store, Hyundai Livart, and Hyundai Green Food, and is noted for his strong understanding and rich experience in both B2C and B2B businesses.

For Zinus, a global mattress specialist company, Jung Baek-jae, currently CEO of Hyundai L&C, was appointed. Jung has served as Head of Finance at Hyundai Everdigm, which focuses on global business, as well as Head of Corporate Strategy and CEO at Hyundai L&C. Park Jong-seon, Head of Product Operations Division, was selected as CEO of Hyundai Easywell, a total welfare solutions company. Park moved to Hyundai Easywell in 2021 after working in Hyundai Home Shopping’s online business and sales strategy departments and is recognized for outstanding abilities in online mall operations and marketing.

At Hyundai Department Store, Kim Chang-seop, Head of Sales Division, was promoted to Vice President in this personnel reshuffle. Vice President Kim led the opening of The Hyundai Seoul as a business development executive, elevated the status of The Hyundai Seoul while serving as its store manager, and recently successfully opened Connect Hyundai, a new-concept retail space in Busan.

Kim Sung-il, CEO of ICT specialist Hyundai Futurenet, was also promoted to Vice President. He is leading the group’s digital transformation and has contributed to organizational stabilization following the merger with Hyundai IT&E.

Lee Hee-jun, CEO of Hyundai Bio Land, was promoted to Vice President for expanding the healthcare business, including the health functional food sector through collaboration with global healthcare company Nestl? Health Science. A Hyundai Department Store Group official said, “The key theme of this regular executive appointment is pursuing change for future growth amid a stable foundation,” adding, “Since major affiliate CEOs were replaced last year, this year’s decision to retain all major affiliate CEOs reflects the intention to strengthen core business competitiveness amid a recession and to focus on mid- to long-term business strategy planning and innovation, considering the uncertain domestic and international economic environment.”
