Lee Dong-geun, Executive Vice President of the Employers Federation, emphasized in his greeting, "To overcome the stagnation in reducing major accidents, it is necessary to fundamentally prevent accidents through a paradigm shift that goes beyond existing legal and technical safety to safety culture and awareness."
Ahn Jong-joo, President of the Occupational Safety and Health Agency, stated, "Since safety awareness and practices at industrial sites have been formed over a long period, it is difficult to change them in a short time. However, for Korea to advance as a leading country in industrial safety, a safety culture that values life and safety must be firmly supported."
The Safety Culture Innovation Forum will be held semiannually going forward. It plans to expand information exchange related to safety culture-centered management between the government and companies, promote the formation of strategic partnerships, and continue discussions on policy proposals for preventing major accidents.
The Employers Federation stated, "In addition to the Safety Culture Innovation Forum, we will strive to establish a widespread safety culture throughout the industry by hosting the 1st Safety Culture Innovation Awards scheduled for December and distributing the Safety Culture Management Evaluation Index."
