Seobusansmartvalley Selected for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Integrated Control Center Construction Project' Competition

A Total of 9 Billion KRW Including 6 Billion KRW from the National Budget to Be Invested by 2026

Expected Approximately 10% Reduction in Risk Factors Such as Safety, Traffic, and Environment

Busan City announced that the Seobusan Smart Valley Industrial Complex (formerly Sinpyeong Jangnim General Industrial Complex) has been finally selected for the "Smart Green Industrial Complex Integrated Control Center Construction Project" competition, securing 6 billion KRW in national funding.

The "Integrated Control Center Construction Project" is a project to introduce smart-based infrastructure to aging industrial complexes and establish a digital management system to systematically respond to risk factors, environmental pollution status, and traffic issues in old industrial complexes.

Following the designation of "Seobusan Smart Valley" as an aging hub industrial complex competitiveness enhancement project area in March, the city applied for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's public competition to establish a digital management system within the aging industrial complex. As a result, it succeeded in securing 6 billion KRW in national funding necessary for the introduction of digital equipment and management system construction within the complex.

With this selection, the project plans to introduce smart-based infrastructure such as "intelligent surveillance cameras (CCTV)" and "intelligent poles (smart poles)" for each field including safety, environment, and traffic within the complex, and to build digital safety, environment, and traffic systems as well as communication infrastructure to establish an AI management system at the Saha-gu Integrated Control Center.

The city, in cooperation with Saha-gu, will invest a total project cost of 9 billion KRW, including the 6 billion KRW in national funding received from the dedicated agency (Korea Industrial Complex Corporation), by 2026 to promote the project, aiming to effectively respond to major risk factors within the industrial complex.

By 2026, digital control equipment will be introduced at about 200 major vulnerable points within the complex, and an AI-based intelligent selective control system will be established along with the advancement of the existing Saha-gu CCTV control center.

Through this, it is expected that risk factors within the complex, such as disaster situations, crime occurrences, and harmful substance emissions, will decrease by more than 10%.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "Through this project, we will expand digital infrastructure in the aging 'Seobusan Smart Valley' to respond in real time to regional risk factors, pollutant emissions, and traffic issues, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of the industrial complex." He added, "We will not hesitate to invest in building an integrated control system reflecting the geographical and industrial characteristics of the complex and providing demand-tailored traffic services to improve the living conditions of resident companies and enhance worker convenience."
